Re: The Hobbit(so called movie)
I'm with you, Halls. I was really anticipating the Hobbit and went to the midnight premier. I came away feeling, "...D:" to say the least. Still, if you ignore what you know about the book, it's an interesting watch... Extra emphasis on the ignoring the book part, since it only vaguely fol...

Re: RPG Combat
I actually kind of see it being the opposite. I think players will expect more complex, detailed animations in a FF-style game than if they battled on the map. Final Fantasy itself has kind of set players' expectations high when it comes to battle animations, whereas with everyone being on the same...

Re: RPG Combat
I think it'd be pretty interesting to make a FF style combat system in an MMO. If nothing else, I think you'd have an easier time managing some cool animations for skills like that.

Re: Best commercial for in-game content
I didn't hear about it until just two days ago. I wonder how it stayed under the rocks for so long.

Re: Dragon Lord
Also, I tried to go to N3 E2 as suggested in the New Senses quest, but got this error when I "arrived":
So, there's a few bugs abound. But, I still think it looks nice.

Re: Dragon Lord
So, I took a look, and I don't know why. I think it looks great, but I don't play these types of games... So, I don't really have much feedback other than it's a little annoying that some of the popup windows for things like Inventory and Quests seem very scrunched. I know that it technically fits s...

Best commercial for in-game content
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQm7eOjyQSY This has got to be the best video I have ever seen to advertise in-game content for the upcoming MMORPG, Wildstar. I laugh every single time I watch it. I dearly hope that I'll be able to come up with/hire someone to come up with this kind of advertisement...

Re: Looking for sprites
Well an option would be to take 3D models and render them. Having diablo style tiles is not something I have ready for you. This works amazingly well. It gives a real sense of depth to your characters and their movement. I worked with a team that did just this. It was a 2D platformer, but all of ou...

Re: MMORPG Engine
Sandbox mmo? :) Depends on your definition, as your thread so nicely points out... but I consider it a sandbox MMO. Open exploration with the freedom to choose which quests you want to partake in - if any. The ability to choose a specific job and stick to it with no need to fight - ever - if you do...
