Wamp Server Doesn't Start?

Post by billysweird »

Umm, When i try to run wamp server it goes yellow and doesn't get past that point. I have no Anti-Virus or anything like that enabled or firewall.

Like localhost doesn't show up etc. etc. I'm gunna try forwarding port 80 but other then that i can't find anything that could help me?

*Edit* Port Forwarding didn't work.

have you restarted or do you have any other mysql programs running?

I hate to say this but it works for many, go to the wamp forums and ask there. The reason I say that is I could troubleshoot it and maybe spend several hours, or you can go to amp forums and they can solve it very quickly.

Have you ever had any other Apache programs running on this box? There may be something else already using the port that WAMP needs to use.

Try checking the Apache error log - it should be accessible by clicking on the WAMP icon.

It happened because you had something else running on port 80. Skype is notorious for doing this. But luckily a restart will cure it. Some other port 80 applications are not as forgiving, such as the problems I had with SQL Server Reporting Services. If it happens again, click on the WAMP icon, and go Apache >> Services >> Test Port 80, and it will tell you what is holding the port. You can then Google it and forums are littered with fixes on an application-by-application basis.
