Ways to make money?

Post by Baseball435 »

Well I need some extra money but at age 14 I don't know how to make any. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!

Offer to clean out people's attics and haul away the "trash" for free, and then go through it later to see if it has valuable stuff in it and sell it on ebay or at a flea market.

It's not trash, it is just stuff. And plus, at 14 you can't be too picky about employment lol :P

You may even find some stuff you want to keep. You would be amazed at how many people will take you up on the offer to basically come over and take their things lol. One of my friends in Tennessee did this for a living and made about $50k a year just by "cleaning up" people's attics and basements, and then selling the sellable items at the local flea market and on eBay. All in total, he only had to work about 15 hours a week to do it, outside of just sitting at the flea market letting people buy his stuff (which maybe accounted for another 8 - 16 hours a week).

I'll just quickly note: As much as they try and brainwash the idea in school (and elsewhere) that work=reward, while that might work in a video game programmed that way, reality isn't a video game and atleast I am not aware of any deity that guarantees work=reward.

Your probably thinking your in a good position now and don't want to get your hands dirty. Really your not in a good position, nor are most people. I'm not sure whether you've thought about whether the monetry system actually works (as in looks after human life) before, or whether you've always just assumed it does because your parents and teachers acted like it does.

If I sound too serious - well, your own access to money probably controls whether you eat and have shelter at night. Sounds serious to me.

remember you are young, what you do now does not reflect on what you will become but will give you knowledge and memories for the future. No one on this earth is above any job. I was working cleaning and mopping a 12 story condo's floors at 14. I did maintenance, clean trash, cleaned the pools, and cleaned the various nasties people would do to that place. I started work at 4am, caught the bus from work at 7:30am then went to school, then got off the bus right back at work and worked till 7:00pm.

My father is old school and believed in working young, Best thing he could of did because I learned the true lesson of hard work.
