Forsaken Sanctum(Web MMO)

Post by hallsofvallhalla »

Yep thats right it s back!

I was holding off FS until i could find the engine that would allow me to make it what i wanted and welp I never found the mmo engine to do it so I am writing my own!

I will be using Impact/HTML5/Javascript/MySQL/Node.js and a few other things to make this happen. This will be a real time MMO through the browser. It will be a bit isometric a bit RPG maker style but with more realistic characters.

I have been working through HTML5 and node and I know I can make this happen. I have much of it down on paper or written in the sand at the playground while my little played. :)

I have one artist one board. The same one that did Viral Dawn but I though I would extend an invitation to anyone with the want to build this ground breaking mmo. I call it ground breaking because there are very few(i can't find any) HTML5 mmos.

What we are looking for:
Designers - can design maps, items, weapons, armor, quests, stories...ect...
Artists - Can either design sprite sheets or can turn 3d models into sprites sheets and/or buttons for website and UI.
Web Designer - Build the web page, forums, and link it all together with game

What we are not looking for:
people just looking to be on a project or only want to work on it once a week.
people not serious about making a mmo through the browser and don't understand the massive undertaking it will be.

We are quite serious about this project and WILL make it come to pass. We only want serious people. This will turn to revenue at some point. We are aiming high, playable through Steam, HTML5 sites, Facebook, Cellphones, and many more. This will turn to revenue at some point :) Not only that we may already have a sponsor if we make it to a certain point.

We do not want a big team, maybe 3-5. I do not want anyone to come in and try to change the game or story, Forsaken Sanctum has a nice story line but it can be altered here or there to fit better.

This will be a Sci-Fi game with a somewhat archaic twist.

You can PM me if interested, Let me know what you would like to bring to the table. I am expecting to have dev tests of the MMO side and the engine very soon to start getting it all into place. If you want to be on a serious project that will be something completely different this is the one but you must be willing to work.

Thanks

Have you looked at the Isogenic Engine lately? It could end up saving a lot of time with all of the MMO architecture it already has in place. I think it uses a custom HTML5 client, but uses Node.js for all back-end (and I am assuming Socket.IO as well).

Thanks I will take a look. The main reason I am reviving FS is I always said I would not bring it back until I knew I had a engine I knew every in and out. If I am writing it myself I definitely know the ins and outs ;)

I would suggest "Introduction to HTML5 Game Development" because it is about Impact. I ended up skipping regular HTML5 game development because it is a primitive beast that isn't worth messing with for 95% of games. Impact actually makes HTML5 game development fun!

It looks like a cool book, but that book does not teach you anything relevant for animated HTML5 game development. It is more focused on HTML5 RIA applications. If that is what you are aiming for, then that looks like a good book. It does not even appear to touch HTML5 Canvas, though, which is really what game development in HTML5 is all about (even many HTML5 RIA apps use Canvas).

It has One chapter on the Canvas, but I am just using it to get familiar with HTML5. I will look at that book you suggested though.

Would that be this book? Couldn't find an "Introduction" to HTML5 Game Development

I just looked as well, and I believe it is that book... I'm going to buy it for my Kindle, because it is cheaper
