Hello everyone

Post by ingrez »

Hi everyone. My name is Ingrez, I'm new here and have been looking around for a couple hours. It seems like most people here know a lot about what they're doing already which is pretty intimidating being someone who is going on and off months at a time with different languages ultimately going nowhere with any of them lol. I suppose I came here looking for some way to make a simple webbrowser-based mmorpg where I could test it out with a few of my friends or something then go from there. I had no idea where to start other looking for a community like this. So here I am, lookin to learn :D

Welcome! :)

Start with the Browser Based MMO Tutorial series. It is the most focused on beginning programmers (the Node and Impact ones are a bit more advanced). It is also by far the longest, as it was the first. As always, we suggest people watch at least up to video 14 first before writing a single line of code and then go back and start coding along (although you would do well to watch the entire series through once first, and then go back to do all the coding). That way you learn the basics of the language as well as how to use it and other things used with PHP, not the least of which being HTML, on your first watch through and are more likely to be able to fix problems that arise and avoid simple syntax errors. I highly suggest checking them out :)

You're welcome! :)

And actually, 30 minutes is considered pretty prompt for a forum! 2 weeks or so later is typically considered "a late reply" ;)

That reminds me that once I pulled into an apartment building complex and pulled out my phone to check directions, and my phone automatically scanned WiFi connections. It found one called "KeepYourCatOutOfMyGarage" :P

Hahaha nice. Too bad there weren't more saying things like "DontLeaveItOpen" or something.
