This is a pretty old topic to post in. It looks like its only a few days old but it's from 2009.
Don't worry, innocent mistake, just try to take a look at the last post dates, i know it can be tough to do that on a forum you just found since everything is new to you

Re: 3D programs
Guys, Ive recently found out that I do not need to have leet drawing skills to do modelling. I've decided to try Blender for now, my question is - Will it be easy or rought transition from Blender to Maya/Max/Zbrush later on? Should I dedicated all my time to learning one of those straight away or should I try first with Blender?

Re: 3D programs
Personally I use Modo 601 for the modeling and ZBrush for the texture painting, and sculpting. Blender is a relatively good software specially for the price (free ) however it doesn't have a all the tools nor the quality of the tools payed software have.
3D software you may want to check:
Houdini: http://www.sidefx.com/
Softimage: http://www.autodesk.com/softimage
Cinema 4d: http://maxon.net
Lightwave: https://www.lightwave3d.com/
Modo 601: http://www.luxology.com/modo/
Personally I don't like Max at all, I find it not only overrated but also, sub par for many things. Yet many uses it. Again as any other tool, the tool is just one part, but without a good artist it will do nothing, and a good artist will be able to do amazing things with basically any of those tools. It's more a question of what kind of workflow suit you better, what kind of image you want to do, and of course your budget.
