Re: Gamification
If I'm not mistaken, Gamification is like turning something far away from a game, playable. An example I have is, imagine Facebook, it's not a game right? (not talking about it's apps). Imagine facebook had a feature to unlock profile pictures through puzzles like mixing parts of the picture. That's it I believe.

Re: Gamification
Gamification is the concept of applying game mechanics and game design techniques to engage and motivate people to achieve their goals.[1] Gamification taps into the basic desires and needs of the users impulses which revolve around the idea of Status and Achievement.
The research company Gartner predicts that by 2015, a gamified service for consumer goods marketing and customer retention will become as important as Facebook, eBay, or Amazon, and more than 70% of Global 2000 organizations will have at least one gamified application. [2]

Companies use it to increase productivity, make work more fun. it is getting huge in Call Centers and such.

Wow I loved Nitro... So cool, Imagine if companies used the point system to increase payment at the end of the week/month :O That would be that ultimate motivation.

Yeah very cool, like 500 points: 5$ gift card on ebay or something
Re: Gamification
Never thought it had a fancy word as a Gamification, but years ago when I was working in an Call Center, had several ideas on making 'shit job' more interesting with that behaviour.hallsofvallhalla wrote:Anyone currently work with gamification in a business or had dealings?

Also had some influences of 'Achievement hunting', that how addicting it was to do something in repeat just to get an achievement. So thought about that also in my last job when working on a Retail Business to motivate the sales-people however, my IT boss wasn't that keen on the idea. I still would think it would impact a portion of people in an positive way
ps. 'shit job' >> oh sorry for saying such nasty words, thanks for the filtering it's much more user-friendly now
Why so serious?

Re: Gamification
I'd think you'd turn to casinos to look at how they do it. They've been gamifying things for a long time.
And they know how to gamify something to really exploit the human psyche.
Ie, gamification isn't all...fun and games...there's a moral problematism to it. A moral responsibility - that can be easily overlooked while trying to improve the bottom line.

Completely agree. It is so easy to take it too far and game the souls from people so to speak.
