Buying ingame upgrades
When playing a online game you enjoy, How many of you would purchase a in-game item for $1. What about like a name change, or a pet, or a months worth of a bigger backpack?
Re: Buying ingame upgrades
Personally i wouldn't buy anything ingame. I would pay for a subscription or premium account but it doesn't seem worth it to me to buy an item. I would rather play the game and get something.. i also dont like playing those because people with too much money to spend buy a bunch of good stuff and the players who actually play the game to get stuff are wasting there time because it they had just spent $15 or $20 then they would have better stuff than if they actually played. I might pay $1 for a name change or pet. I would also probably be willing to pay $5 for a permanently larger backpack but not a dollar for a temporarily larger one. I wouldn't pay for anything that could break or potions or anything.

hmm interesting,
what about a $5 a month subscription that gives bigger backpack, higher caps, and other extras, but also a $1 or less things like name changes and pets??

Re: Buying ingame upgrades
I would probably pay that. i think a game that does it really well is runescape. they have a fairly full game supported by adds but you can get no adds plus tons of features for $5 a month. that system i think works well.
Re: Buying ingame upgrades
When my game gets going properly i will have donations but it will not give any benifits to playing game.i.e you will not get any further in game when paying or not paying .the extras would be adding avatars and silly things liek that .so if you pay or do not you are all the same playing field so say soemone with a spare £50 or $ cannot buy their way to say a person who has not payed anything but spent his time playing .
But then like must peopel i am just doing this a a fun project for myself and friend to see what i can do not for any moneity gains

Re: Buying ingame upgrades
I know I don't mind buying things for games, it usually isn't single things but a pack of things. Either way I'm for it, I fail to see the problem. Some people love to pay becaue they don't get to play much so they like having things to buy, but then the people who play alot complain. Coming from the perspective of not having alot of time to play, I like having the option to buy.

Thats the way we are setting up our game, is F2P and buying in game items to keep it going. This way, if you want you can, otherwise you cant. But some items are restricted to your rank. So if your an Ensign, you cannot buy anything higher then Ensign...makes it fair!!

That's a really good idea. Each rank/level comes with buyable items. This way the paid advantage isn't so great yet is still worth paying for. Kinda like making a area/zone that only paying characters can enter.

Exactly! We are doing it that way, cause I hate it when someone who is brand new to the game, but is loaded in cash, and buys all kinds of crap to beat the holy hell outta people, while us little people who don't have loads of cash, have to work up to that point.hallsofvallhalla wrote:That's a really good idea. Re: Buying ingame upgrades
If I was in to a free game, I would have nothing against paying a few bucks every now and then for some perks. If nothing else, I would do it to support the game. I always think it is funny when players are playing a F2P game and never buy anything, then they complain when development starts to slow down.
