That is what I am doing now. Making items, mobs, areas, etc. It is mind numbing, as I have been banging away on OpenOffice spreadsheets for about the past month. However, I have a decent amount of stuff. 2,000 items, over 100 mobs each with full drop tables, 40 rooms so far, etc. Still a long way to go, but I am getting therehallsofvallhalla wrote:geeze you never realize the amount of work in build the world until you get there. Even a text based world. SO many items, balancing, ect... For now I am just putting in enough stuff for a good alpha test. Items and creatures are done. Had to add in a werechicken in honor of a great Ravenloft adventure I played and a Green Slime to honor the old Dragon Quests!

The way I am looking at it, it is ok for some of my items to be slightly better than others of the same type. Anyone who played EQ 1/2, WoW, DAoC, etc. would agree that some items, even rare items, could be quite a bit better than others of the same grade. The important thing is making sure that the grades scale well.hallsofvallhalla wrote:Jackolantern wrote:That is what I am doing now. whoa!
I remember making pen and paper games back in school and the funnest part was items and creatures. Now it is just a headache. Especially the balancing.
If you have some time to register, you can look some ajax chats (made with jquery) at the game we are developing:hallsofvallhalla wrote:k just figured out how to make different rooms. I just make a variable based on players location that writes to a new chat file or writes to the existing chat file. Hmm can have separate guild chat too. May take some complicated scripting to work but should be able to get it done tomorrow. If so that would put alpha about a week away!
