Just dropping in a hello. I am new around here and new to developing games. I used to develop servers for ultima online for 7 years, but those days are over. The programing i did back then was the basic of basic.

Ever since then ive had tons of ideas floating in my head about a game/games i want to make. So i decided to start with a browser bassed mmo. So i am new to developing games of my own. My first one dosnt have a name just yet but its a browser based mmorpg. I have been watching the tutorials from here, and i have to say they are awsome. Great detail and are helping alot.

Once I have enough to show on my game i will be posting it in the projects. Right now im thinking of calling it Realms of Kalavahana, but the name as i said is still not decided completly. I look foward to being a part of this forum for a long time and donating if and when i can for allt he help i have and will get from the tutorial videos.

Well i am starting to ramble but nice to meet yall, and glad to be here.

Welcome to the community! :)

When you say you developed the servers for Ultima Online, do you mean with the company, or the private servers?

Private Servers sorry should of mentioned that. It was fun while it lasted but the population for the game is slowly going away.

and thank you for the warm welcome :)

Hello!

Welcome to the community. I too have not been here long, but the people here are quite nice and helpful. Although I do not have any real coding background, I have experience writing plots and description details for games.

I look forward to speaking with you in the future.

Thank you, yeah im not to good at writing up backgrounds and stories for games. I can come with the ideas for them tho :D. Last time i tried to make one it was about 5 paragraphs and real simple. As for coding tho the coding i did was basic of basic nothing hard. I have done a little c# but it was just making items nothing hard either.

I good with coming up with game ideas. I have four ideas, two of which I have written plots, NPC details, outline of how the environment will run, items, history, and many more descriptions. It is quite miserable. The idea for two of my games are fully developed and written include item and NPC descriptions and plots, but I have not been able to implement them because I lack the coding skills necessary. My third game is a little less than half way completed too.

Something happened along the way that I never learned to not partially live in the fantasy world in my head. So, I can be very creative at times.

I look forward to seeing what your game ideas are. If you ever want some ideas or help writing stuff up, please do not hesitate to ask me. It would make my idea, if I could contribute here in that way, since I am not knowledgeable about coding.

I am the same way. I have had the same fantasy world and idea in my head since i was a kid, and its developed into a huge idea. I was making my idea and world in ultima online as a side project. I spent 3 years on it was planning on a beta in 6 months then i lost everything. I was backing it up to a external hdd and my comp crashed. Some how both became corrupted(that was 2 years ago). So i lost everything. It was a set back but it hasn't hindered me wanting to make that world, but now its going to be its own game. The ultima online version had an HUGE weapon loot system. Now when i mention it its going to sound like im making it sound bigger then it is, but i did the math. It was around 1.4 trillion possible weapons i did it with a bunch a variables and possibilities. I kind of want to recreate it (but modified version and a little smaller) I did realize it was kind of big, but it did make most weapons found in loot unique in a way.

Right now i have TONS of ideas im planning on putting together my ideas and posting it. I was always taught by a friend ( who also made ultima online servers) that its good to write all your ideas down on paper. Before you truly begin to make your game or server. So you do not stray from your goals and the core of your game/server.

I Ultimately YEARS and YEARS down the road want to make a mmorpg that is open sourced. Where you can design your own plain where players can go. With in game map and 3d model editing. But thats YEARS down the road.

And thank you it would be cool to work with someone with my ideas. Ive almost never shared my ideas well all of them some people know small bits of my ideas.

:) PM me anytime.

OUCH!! You should use multi-sources to back stuff up. I back my stuff up in secure online storage space, DVDs/CDs, external hard drives, and any other means. I have lost important documents for my studies before. It was not fun.
