Hi!
Im trying to create a game in a browser, a little bit of fighting monsters, little bit of pvp, no complex story behind it. I`ve played some games like this and i tried to pick the best features from each game that i know, but i want to ask you about your opinion too. What i got so far (or what im planning to do;)):

- humour all over da place :)
- achievements like killing 1000 orcs, winning 1000 times or something like that
- titles - a titles before your name connected to achievements - lets say "John an orc slayer" for killing 1000 orcs.
- rare mobs and epic weapons
- crafted items made from a loot from different monsters
- guild monsters - guilds can summon monster (u need a lot of a mats from monsters to do so) and fight it togheter (team play)
- each player starts same (no classes ect.) and than develope character with big skill tree
- in future maybe some guild battles - but i have absolutely no idea now how would i code it ;)

I want to ask you guys, what would you want to see if you played this type of a game. What features would raise a gameplay value ;) how would you see pvp system and pvm system? what do you think about my ideas? or maybe there is something you know that will never work?

best regards
Sebastian

Well, im not much a fan anymore of browser games since i begin to make them :)

But in your game, i think its crucial the use of a nice PvP / PvE system, if possible with nice graphics and not much turn based :S Just saying..

Second i think the idea of titles and achievments is very cool, keep it :)

The rest seems cool to play, but like a said, is not that i dont like your game, but i lost my interest in playing browser based games :D
Cool idea though.

I honestly have to say I don't like humor in MMOs/PBBGs. A tiny bit sprinkled in item descriptions (like in WoW) is alright, but definitely not "all over the place". I say this for a couple of reasons. First, and probably most important, MMO-type games basically have to reuse content. You will see items over and over, mobs over and over, and most players will play quests over and over (at least on different characters). What is mildly funny or amusing the first time quickly becomes irritating. Successful funny games tend to be short, single-player games where the player never sees the same things twice, and by their nature, MMOs are not like that.

Second, and also of importance, is that humor works against immersion and the setting of the game. I know you said it will be light on story, but generally in those cases, the players weave their own story and setting in the game. But humor works against that by "tearing down the fourth wall" and kind of slapping the reality that it is just a game in the player's face when they may have been getting immersed.

Of course, that is just my take on it. I am sure there are others who would love to see humorous MMOs!

Thanks for all replies.
About nice pvp and pvm system, well its the hardest part :) they will be both turn based mainly because of my programming skills :) and graphics will come in time :P for now im trying to figure out a good balanced fighting system and its hard enough :)
About the humour maybe i wrote it wrong. I meant more style of the game than its content if you what i mean. You wont fight tooth fairies but graphics in the game will be made in humorous way. :) a little bit like for kids. Where i come from? well i was checking good few games of this type and in my range (almost only php) and i`ve notice that game can be really good and "deep" but if the interface was too complex i didnt like it. On other hand i found games that were really simple but made so good i would play them and it was just nice to click.
About mmorpg / fighting games in general i share vitinho444 opinion. I wouldnt play them either but somehow im suprised with number of people playing them everytime i find new game like this.
For now i treat this little project as a "school" for my php and programming in general. My daughter is really absorbing so its going slooow but i hope to inv you all for my beta tests in some time :D
