I dont often keep myself logged into any google products at home except youtube. But today I logged into chrome broswer. And it decided it would import all of my bookmarked pages that I have used at work.

When I noticed it, I thought fair enough seems smart. Then I clicked onto a works system login page.

Baring in mind, our work systems are IP restricted to work and have had no need to log into or navigate to the system at home...

It popped up with the login box... already prefilled with the credentials needed (which are saved as per the normal route of having your browser remember them) to log into it.

So im starting to wonder if its safe to save these details on chrome any more. If someone was able to get into my google account, (and I have just noticed aswell that it has even ported over my history complete with login details) they are able to access anything I have looked at previously and gain access to anything with saved details...

Has anyone else spotted this?

Chrome is considered one of the safer (if not the safest) browser out there. But I guess some of this stuff depends on the value of the info. I would not want Google to save my online bank info, therefore I never let it save it. It shares my bookmarks between my tablet and my desktop, and the value on those is basically non-existent (aka not worth the time spent to get them).

For the most part, if someone gets into your Google account, for most people, the most damaging thing is going to be getting into your email. They could basically get into any of your accounts by using the "Forgot password" function on any site. But that is the same with any email account, and that is up to the user to create strong passwords (symbols, no dictionary words, 9+ characters, etc.).

So I really don't believe it is any less secure than any other browser. Just like any other browser, you have to be careful about what you save.

I never let browsers save anything I've typed into input boxes. It's one of the dumbest things you can do. It means your password could be stored somewhere in plain-text or something that is easily decrypted.

I also noticed something rather dumb about Chrome. You can search through every page in your history.

One time I was on my hosting control panel, it allows the admin to see some passwords for specific things, which I don't agree with. But sure enough when I went to search "password" in my history. I could see 3 or 4 passwords in there that no one should know, not even Chrome. It also caches Hotmail pages. So be aware.
