Hello from Serbia

I would like to greet everyone at this forum.

I am Mechanical engineer from Serbia, age 33 with love for programing and RPG games. I accidentally stumbled on halls tutorials for web browser RPG and was delighted. From someone who didn’t know how to make more than “hello world” in PHP I have completed all basic halls tutorials and type all code by myself. Even understood most of them. :D For this I am very grateful to hall for sharing his knowledge with us.

After basic tutorials I wanted of course to make something of my own creation, so with this knowledge I started making modification to the basic code and add some ideas, optimization etc. Unfortunately because of everyday job and life generally I did not spend as much time as I would like on it. Sometimes a month would pass before I would do some work on it. Eventually I will complete some first stage of game and will be able to share it with community. For now is still sits on my computer, I have lot ideas how to improve it, but unfortunately not enough time.

I would use this post to ask for help form people in this forum. I didn’t have some good ideas for name for world where game would happen. I had some ideas, but none was catching. It is fantasy world and it should be one name, because I would use that name to register web domain for it. I have tested game on free sharing, but for some real test I will put it on its own domain.

I would like to hear some ideas from people. If I use names from here, I will of course give credit to author.

Welcome :)

You could make a Project Showoff I section post and tell us about the game, and maybe we can make some name suggestions. Of course the name is not all that important, though, and can really wait until near the end of development!

Welcome, glad to have you! And I would agree with Jack...start a thread on Project Showoff I...look forward to seeing your progression!

Congrats on completing the basic tutorial!

It's a good idea to try and make a series of minigames (that can be coded in a week or two) that link with other minigames, rather than trying to make one massive game that would take a year and you might burn out. That's my advice, anyway! Good luck!

Welcome,

I would love to help you with your name, but can't just make up a fantasy name without even knowing what the game is about. Or what locations you have used. So If I/we could get a showoff like jackolatern said or test it, that would be awesome.

Hey Leruman, pozdrav :D Nice to see other developers from our god-forsaken Serbia xD

I'm at the *very* last stages of my MMO game development (will post testing version on this forum soon too, it's already being test-played :D) so PM me with any info and we can meet somewhere for the beer and script talk :D
