The company that developed Battlestar Galactica Online with Unity, Bigpoint.com, is now developing Game of Thrones MMOPRG using Unity. Looks impressive. This will defiinately raise the bar for Unity MMO development and will give HeroEngine some serious competition.

On a side note, its ironic that HeroEngine which seems designed for Fantasy based MMORPGs seems to be producing mostly Sci-Fi based games.

I knew there was a Game of Thrones MMO in the works, just didn't realize they were using Unity. That's pretty cool.

[cynic/skeptic] And for all the advances in developing the platform, they will simply repeat the kill monsters over and over (with a repeating sequence of keys) gameplay, which is nothing like atleast the first books contents.[/cynic/skeptic]
It's not like if you can't be bothered coding something new, you couldn't atleast port over combat abilities to a new context, like diplomacy or something. So instead of only killing monsters over and over you can go to court and beat diplomats at arguments over and over.

I can't say I have huge hopes because Game of Thrones is far too young to have grown beyond its novel/TV universe. Franchises such as Lord of the Rings and Star Wars have had massive out-growth into other mediums, but even those franchises had blunders and mis-steps in their first forays into games. You have to have the first few iterations that stay razor-close to the material and almost begin to look like satire of the source material before it can mature and the games can really find a voice of their own.
