Right before Christmas season is fully into full fledged.

So sorry for the late processing of this survey. Life was quite busy. Please read the blog post entry as well as the ReadMe File. I hope the Summary and Raw Data is of use to you.

Hello people out there in web-world.
The end of the year is approaching quite soon and
PawByte and
SuperLongName.com are conducting a quick survey among gamers about the gaming industry.
The survey shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes and it's results will be published for free for all to see. My hope is that game developers, publishers and inventors will take the results of this survey and take another lens as to what gamers do, want and think.
If you have time and will like to contribute to the glorious gaming industry you can find the
Survey here.
Thank you for your time.
Yours truly,
-Nathan

One small thing to consider when analyzing data from people here... or perhaps not so small.
This is a forum for people who design and build games. They got into this because they love them, but what makes the people here different from your typical pontificator on your typical gamer forum is that they at least try their hand at making them.
You can’t look behind the curtain and still approach games like a "gamer" anymore.

				Great point.
The survey is being conducted in multiple communities, gamers and developers.
One reason it is also going to developers is because we want to innovate the industry and are looking for feedback, cough we're also designing a next-generation console and will like to use the results too.

Someone else posted a survey a while back, and I will say this one is quite similar in structure, so I will offer the same advice: There are too many write-in fields. What is going to happen is that everyone is going to write something different in those fields, and the data is not going to be able to be grouped or visualized. It will also make it hell to count the data if you get a lot of responses (which I am sure is what you want), since people may still mean the same thing, but misspell words, say it a different way, etc. which makes programmatic sorting impossible. It also makes it feel more daunting to take the survey.
There really is a lot of wisdom in the fact that almost all surveys are multiple-choice. Sorting scripts, the charts and graphs you can make with them, etc. That said, I will take it when I have some time, and best of luck with it

Thanks for the feedback. I understand the problem with the many write-in fields, but for the questions we asked we wanted the writer to actually write in their responses and not limit them to what we thought will be the top groupings. The results will be published with the actual data and grouped data to help people understand the wide range of data and responses.
We've gotten some great feedback thus far with nearly 100 completed surveys.
