Hello and Thankyou

Post by Kismet »

I'm new to this site and I just wanted to thank hallsofvallhalla for his incredible video tutorials. I'm completely new to browser based game creation and I've had no trouble following the videos so far *touch wood*.

You are a born teacher and I can't thankyou enough for doing this. I will definitely buy the gold pack when you release it.

By the way, have you ever thought of writing a book? Because there's almost nothing available to help the budding browser game developer, so there's a definite market for it .

Actually, a while back I had toyed with the idea of writing a book on making a browser RPG. Something step-by-step like Halls' tutorials, with lots of screen shots and starting from square 1 (setting up WAMP on your localhost) up to having a playable game hosted on a website. Throw in a couple chapters on how to find a host for your game and mysql/php security issues to watch for... could be a good book I think :)

I love to write, and I like doing tutorials when I have something I understand enough to do a tutorial on... I just don't have a good speaking voice to do video :)

Thankyou all for the welcome .

OldRod that would be perfect! I'd be the first in line to buy a book like that. I really hope you'll do it.

You wouldn't even need to find a traditional book publisher for it (though that would be very nice). You could just release it in downloadable .pdf format.

I'm not sure how merchant websites actually work, but I've bought things online before, I pay through Paypal and then the vendor sends me a download link for the product.

I wonder how hallsofvallhalla is going to sell the gold pack? Maybe you could set up something similar.
