Wow, how lame. I own both a PS3 and a 360 but honestly don't play games much on either one. This is definitely not what Sony needed right now considering how badly they are losing in the US market's console war. Sony needs to stay afloat enough in the console market to make a PS4, or who knows how badly the next generation of consoles will go if there is only one major next-gen console (Nintendo doesn't seem interested in the next-gen console business after the last 2 failures; they seem quite comfortable in the casual sector which does not really directly compete against the Xbox 360 for the same customers). The NES was the last single next-gen console monopoly and even "easy-going" Nintendo used the advantage to bully out other potential competitors and did tons of other evil stuff.

As a side note, it is kind of odd that only the old, large PS3 has been affected, as they have shown over time to be the most reliable. Heck, the first two models of the deluxe PS3 sell for about $200 - $400 more than the others on Ebay just based on that.

Haha! Nice one Sony

I play almost entirely on PC for a few reasons:
1) The only TV to play the games on I have to share with my little bro, and my games aren't exactly suitable for a 4 year old to watch :)
2) PC versions can often be modded, great for adding more content to a game
3) PC versions sometimes also look better than console version *cough*Bad Company 2*cough*. If you have a powerful rig, that is
4) No having to pay for online play (unless it's an MMO, but I don't play those)

Well, I will stick up for the PS3 in that regard. Sony decided before the release of the PS3 that they wanted to augment the online services of the PS2 (which was a nearly non-existent mish-mash of 3rd-party services) but they did not want to charge for it. Is Xbox Live better? Yes. But is it so much better that it is worth paying an extra monthly fee? Not for me. If I want to play something online, all I care about is that it makes finding a game to join easy. Both PSN and XBL do that just fine for me. I don't care about the other bells and whistles of XBL. It is nice that XBL has more DLC on it, but really that is just more product the company is hocking at me, so that is not necessarily an overwhelming plus for me

The way I see it is that shit happens, it sucks for Sony (I am a big supporter since I have been with sony for a while for their products). I will continue to use their products or services because I try to be a loyal customer, this same thing could have happened to XBL and caused more of a stink since you have to pay for online.
