VB6 was a full programming language with DirectX, some low-level access, and others. A lot of programs made with it were very simple because of how basic used to be advertised. It was still moving past the days of being marketed as a beginner's language. Today, VB.NET is as complicated as C#.

It is not the language syntax that makes it complex, but rather, knowing the .NET framework inside and out, which is the largest programming framework ever created with something like 20,000+ classes, interfaces, structs and enums. VB6 had nothing on that level, hence why VB.NET is much more complicated.

VB6 is a cakewalk compared to VB.Net, VB.Net is a pain, especially when you mix in ASP.net.
