Anyway, graphics only set you up for failure IMHO. Anytime text-based games come back into fashion, take advantage! There is always going to be another game that has prettier graphics if you are a hobbyist developer. Just look at Legends of Zork. The gameplay is simple and shallow, but it has probably gigs of custom, commercial-quality graphics. How can a single hobbyist or a small group compete with that? But we can tear a game like that up in depth and gameplay. If you try to have graphics, your graphics will be compared with other games, and the people doing that comparing don't care if they are comparing it to a AAA browser game like Zork or another hobbyist game.
