copyright issues...

Post by alexander19 »

Hello everyone!
I'm currently working on a browser based mmorpg, called world of battle, and while browsing the net I found some ads about a mmo rts called world of battles.(their domain is worldofbattles.com...while for my game I'll use worldofbattle.org)
The bad thing is that I'm halfway through the game coding,so if I'll have to change the name,I'll need to rework some graphics(logos and other stuff) and some other info.
My question is....would I have any problems if I launch the game under the name I'm currently using? or I better find another name?
Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

I would find another name. What trademark law tries to prevent is names that are "deceptively close", and being plural or not may not be enough of a difference. While it may be some work to do now, it is much better than getting your game shut down after it is made ;)

Thanks for the answer.
Guess I'll have to find another name now and rework those graphics.
