Php challenges?
Hey guys, well after learning some php and mysql I have created a successful login page with no help. But now I have nothing to do and need a challenge so I come to you guys. I need a challenge but not like a challenge like create a full out text based rpg, just like a beginner challenge for php and mysql. I'll try any challenge thrown at me!

Pick a semi-advanced algebra formula you know fairly well (some kind of factoring, perhaps?) and make a calculator page. It will give you experience with parsing what the user enters and using some fairly advanced logic. It could also be created in a couple of days and uploaded to a free host. You would probably be amazed at how much traffic comes your way from Google if you do, as people are looking for various calculators all the time!

Write out a short story that players can click through, then make the click into some sort of challenge like choosing the right attack, or a random roll and getting lucky (gamble challenge).
That's pretty simple, yet not so simple when it comes to coding.

Maybe he never bought any D&D dice and is planning on playing this weekend. If you make a blog rather than a dice roller he is out of luck!Baseball435 wrote:Lol whyhallsofvallhalla wrote:if you make a blog site I will beat you....

Ahaha! I agree that making a simple CRUD (Create-Read-Edit-Delete) system will give you some good practice. As for the dice: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htmJackolantern wrote:Maybe he never bought any D&D dice and is planning on playing this weekend. When I first started I created a blog and kept adding features to it for practice.
For instance you could start by creating the CRUD features. Then you could create a comment system. Then you could create a pagination library. A basic RSS feed. Then integrate categories, tags, search, etc.
