Vampires and Werewolves

On a side not I hate all vampire and werewolf books. I have yet to find a single author that portrays them properly. They are always making them too mushy or too goth. Drives me nuts!

Personally I haven't read any either. They are all to cliche and the storylines either get sidetracked because of romance or an eternal soliloquy. Unless the storyline is romance, in which that case, I won't bother reading it at all.

So what are your opinions on Vampires and Warewolves? Especially since the release of the Twilight series. (Four hours I will never get back reading the first)

Well back before they got mainstream, back in the days where we would play D&D and Vampires were a force from Ravenloft that were scary to any player it was all great.

My concept of Vampires are close to the legends but far from Hollywoods version

Vampires are cursed humans, like Minotaurs. They are not a special race. There is nothing scientific about them. They are all supernatural and slaves to a unknown force. Sure they can roam the night and do what they wish and sure they are immortal to an extent but they are not these fluffy puffy drama queens. Many are thousands of years old. They have seen and felt more than we could ever imagine.

Think of it like your first love. In middle school, high school, whenever, but remember how crazy it was, how dramatic, and how you thought life was over after it. Now look back on it. You learned and know better and it seems really silly. Anything that lives thousands of years have done this enough to be on a higher level of thinking and looks to what we do as an adolescent thing. They do not fall victim to the silly whims and wants we do.
Love is a ever escaping intangible substance we get to hold for so little time yet get teased by it for our entire lives. Vampires love life. It is the one thing that teases them with eternity but they never get to really hold. Vampires cannot be humanized. People do this with God also. They give something so powerful such human characteristics.

Vampires cannot "turn" humans. It is a curse that is given only to selected people. You must be evil yet graceful. Vile yet Etiquette. To be chosen as a vampire is a gift among some tribes and a curse to others. Vampires murder little. Why kill your food and your servants? Especially the tasty ones!

All vampires are not evil. Many are chosen from their higher form of thinking. Matter of fact one must be careful of the definition of evil when speaking of vampires. Evil to societies definition? yes. Evil as society? no.

Werewolves I have never liked. Boring and just not very kewl. oooh watch this I can change into a dog!

The intelligence of a vampire is far above a normal human. They have lived too long to not know many ways of the world.

The only good book I've read about vampires is Salem's Lot and thats about it.
