Sizzle Selector Engine for JS
I am on a quest at the moment to learn more about vanilla JS, since many things can't be done by jQuery alone. However, the original DOM methods still seem waaaay more complicated than they need to be. I wanted to get just the amazing CSS-based selector engine out of jQuery and leave the rest of the bulk behind, and found out there is a way! Get rid of the middle-man and just use the Sizzle Selector Engine. It is the exact same engine that is used in jQuery that prevents you from having to write lines and lines of code to get at oddly-placed children, ancestors, siblings and others. Instead, just reference it exactly as you would in CSS and you get a reference to exactly what you want! I highly suggest to any JSers who are not using a library to at least check out Sizzle! It is probably around 80% of the goodness of jQuery without the bulk.
