Has anyone here played Heroscape?
If so, I am thinking about turning that into a turned based game in Unity. I know I cannot market it, because it belongs to another company. But some friends and I love that game.
I built a 3D scanner, so I can scan all the pieces as a 3d model and import them into Unity (and yes, the scanner works), of course I will have to rig them. But I am curious what everyone else thinks about this. I may post this also in the recruiting section...
I have started researching board style movement on a grid and the dice rolling for attacking/defending purposes. I think I have the scripts ready for that. Though this weekend I have to go get another piece for the scanner, but that wont be anymore then $15 USD.

Wow, a 3d scanner?
Honestly, if you weren't doing that, all you have to do is file off the serial numbers and rename everything and your fine. No one can copyright game mechanics (they can copyright the descriptive text, but as long as you use another description...)

Very true. Look at Gameloft's IPhone games. They are making millions a year by lifting the exact same gameplay out of popular console games, renaming them slightly, changing the specifics a hair, and then putting them on IPhone.

What are you going to do about the high poly counts?
**EDIT* also I always wished I had one of those cause I've always wanted to go from real sculpture to digital and back

It shouldn't matter since it wouldn't be networked. It would remain on the same computer, each taking turns. Then eventually making it multiplayer over LAN, not an MMO.Last Known Hero wrote:What are you going to do about the high poly counts?
