Re: chat?
i am not much on chat systems. people tend to chat there and ask for questions than post them here where others can read. I will look into it however.

Re: chat?
I don't think the chat is really required. I myself am always checking out these forums and there always seems to be somebody about.

Re: chat?
No community-master could ever be delighted by chat.
But we could have a day ( e.g. every friday evening) where the chat was opened specifically to just to chat about what's happened in the week and about project progressions. The chat would be closed after this 5 or so hour session and dumped in a automated forum post (or blog post) for reference.
That gives you most of the benefits of chat while eliminating the negatives: the lack of people online and lack of monitoring/spam-control.
That chat time window would mean that people log in specifically to chat and so there will always be some people watching the chat for any potential 'And what are you wearing?' spammers
and driving them off.
Well, thats the theory: it might not work in practice.

I like that idea, too! We would likely want to pick a time range that is not too crazy for our European posters, though.

Re: chat?
Unless you do two of them. One for Europe and the other for us crazy US people!!
Each one could be posted, or allow people who couldn't make it, get another chance.
Like couldn't make the 4p chat, but I can make the 9p chat or whatever. Idea.

Another great idea, SpiritWebb!
I've started another topic to gauge when would be the most appropriate time. If there isn't one time we are all online, we might have to use your ide of having an AM one and a PM one.
