So I've decided to get more into freelancing. I don't have much as far as a portfolio to put up there, so I just threw some stuff up - like the first one is a joomla! site I did for free for a non-profit I used to work for. The second is actually a site I own, and the third I didn't design, I just added some content for the owner.
I wanted to get you's guys' opinions on the site: http://jharrell.com/
Is the design okay? Does it do a decent job selling my services? Does it come off professional?
Once I'm satisfied with the site, I'mma make some business cards and start hunting for more work. Things are slow with my company right now, and I could use the extra moneys.

Looks great. Layout is clean and to the point. Just enough information. Graphic on left fits the site.
Re: Portfolio / Freelancing site
Yeah it looks sweet, however, i would reduce the font size a bit on the content part. It feels a bit clogged, too much text per square inch. Other that that, very cool!

Looks really nice man!
Re: Portfolio / Freelancing site
Looks good, I'm not sure if you are trying to use a different font or not, but whatever it's Times New Roman, and I totally hate Times New Roman. Secondly the footer needs a bigger margin or more padding on top. Thirdly the "Hire Me" buttons background doesn't show up.
The rest looks good

What browser are you using?
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions all! I'll take them all into account next time I do an update.

The layout is good, but the typography needs some working. Try and use some colour or other embellishments for your headings instead of solely relying on font size and type. The same applies to your 'Hire Me' button, try and make it stand out some more.
Also the page looks really big - as if I was viewing it on a low-res monitor. I would shrink the text down a notch and embrace the whitespace.
Otherwise, nice selection of textures and layout.

@Pax: Yeah I see that the font sizes in some areas (mainly the part with some example work) need to be reduced. I built it in 1920x1080 res so I'm not sure why I didn't notice it before. I think that might actually solve the problem of the headers needing "embellishment" as well. A little more white space could do the trick.
@Chris: Ah! That's weird, Opera seems to not agree with Helvetica. It does look like Times New Roman, which I agree, is ugly. Gotta fix that as well! And I wonder why it doesn't support the CSS3 for the "Hire me" button, I thought Opera was based on webkit.. ?
