Awww, that is awful :( Has she had it checked out yet? That does seem awfully young, so if she hasn't gotten the final word, it very well may not be it. Even if it is, though, it is more survivable now than it ever has been before, so it is important to keep an optimistic outlook!

I'll make sure to pray for her. I hope hope it isn't, but to keep optimistic there are many other things with similar symptoms. The most common is that it might be knotted tissue. Luckily if it is breast cancer only has like a 15% fatality rate most of those are with older women, not teens or young woman. So keep optimistic and hope for the best, and keep us posted, i'm a very empathetic person.

That's... very unfortunate.

I guess we just have wait and see if it really is cancer. Hopefully it won't be.

sorry to hear but i agree with jack, Doctors are often wrong. I was diagnosed with Cancer in two places in my body, 1 year, tons of worry, and thousands of dollars later it turned out to be something else that i was able to get surgerically removed in a few hours.

I hope all turns out well. 16 is so young.

The medical industry are making massive breakthroughs in treatments to eliminate cancer, and effective cures for most forms. Most people diagnosed with breast cancer these days have extremely high chances of recovery.

In any case, I wish her all the best and hope the diagnosis turns out nothing. As halls mentioned, Doctors are often wrong and often make surface diagnosis until further examination. :)

I don't know why I missed this before. This is like what happened to me. I think I was born with what is now known to be a benign brain tumor, and had a shunt put in to my head. Pretty standard stuff, although it wasn't found and operated on until I was 18 and was in a car wreck that caused a brain scan to be done. For the next several years, they had me come in first every 6 months or so to check to see if it had grown, and then every year, etc. Every time I would get a call within about 3 days saying "Everything is fine". Well, one time they called me and told me it had grown, was cancerous, and I likely had 6 - 10 months to live. They started setting up chemo sessions, although they said it likely wouldn't make a difference. As you can imagine, I was shattered, and started going through the various stages of acceptance. Then I get a call back a couple of days later, and...they "read my scan wrong"! Everything was fine, and nothing out of the ordinary...

Don't get me wrong, I am very happy for the state of modern medical technology, but I think some doctors get so detached from human emotion that they break world-destroying news to people before they are even sure because they just don't think about the ramifications.
