The World//R:2 (New Engine in the making)

Well I figured it's time to post about my game. I'll have pictures of the new engine in a few days. Right now enjoy pictures of the old engine/game

Classes
Adept Rogue - Unlike other classes, its users do not specialize in a single weapon, or form of combat. Instead of practicing in the use of a particular type of weapon, an Adept Rogue acquires several forms through Job Extend, each of which allows him or her to use a different weapon type. (This class is not fully supported as of yet)

Twin Blades - are the most balanced class in The World. They are noted for their superior traveling speed and hit rate. Twin Blades are the proverbial "jack of all trades, master of none" due to the fact that while they have decent attack stat growths and have decent magical stats, they are unable to equip the strongest armors, have lower attack growths than the other classes, and do not have access to stronger magic skills. Their greatest strength lies with their multi-hit skills. Each skill has several elemental versions, and as a result are capable of dealing massive damage to enemies weak against those elements.

Flick Reaper - Wield giant scythes. Similar to the Heavy Axe-men from The World, Flick Reapers use large weapons such as Axes and Scythes to attack with.

Edge Punisher - Similar to the Heavy Blades from R:1, Edge Punishers use huge, double-handed Broadswords.

Blade Brandier - They are very similar to the Blademaster class from R:1.

Steam Gunner - Steam Gunners use steam-powered bayonets developed by humans to attack.

Story
Still in progress.. Game continues after the G.U. games!

Custom Engine
The game engine is written in C# and XNA 4.0. This enables us to fully use the XNA framework for the 2-d game. For networking we are using Lidgren Library which is a third party networking library. I'm cheating a little on this part. I'm following a tutorial for a basic RPG XNA game then customize it to my needs. I'm just tyring to get it the game back up and running as fast as possible.

Very nice work! However, you may want to move this to recruitment, since it really seems like more of a recruitment ad than a Project Showoff, although there is bleed over. You could make two separate topics if you like :)

Sorry. Thats just form the master topic from my admin section on my forums... I'll fix it up to get the recuitment portion out. I got pretty far today. I have the maps loading then got the sprites to work. Now i only have to get the map to scroll along with the camera. I got tired of working on that part and started to work in my main menu. I'm kinda stuck on that... But searching google... I'll have a small video once i got the walking all fixed up.

Good to hear about the progress!

And no need to apologize. There is no rule on where it needs to be. It is just that likely conversation in this section is going to evolve talking about your game and the recruitment aspect of the post will likely get lost in the shuffle.

Fair enough... Now I'm going to go watch some more Futurama while i try and thing of how to fix my camera and my new ring menu system unless someone replies first...

Damn, looks good already! I just looked at your other topic, can`t help you there, I have no experience in XNA whatsoever, but this is going good.

Thanks. Once i figure out this ring menu and fix up the rest of the camera then I should be able to start on the networking a little then after that add in mysql/ms sql support for all the data...

Although I know C# fairly well from ASP.NET and Windows Forms applications, I don't know too much about XNA either. It is something I have been learning off and on the last couple of months, but I am not to the point of being able to help with complex problems on it :(

Well I'm going to search google some more now that i have some sleep. Here is to hoping find something... If not I'll just go back to my camera problem... Either way I hope to have one of my problems fixed by later tonight.
