ascii wars

Post by hallsofvallhalla »

Normally I do not post a game idea until I have something to show but I am kinda on the fence about this one and wanted some input. I came up with this a few years ago and have thought about doing it but never got into it until lately.

Basically the game is called Ascii Wars, it is a 2d top down multi-player game. The graphics are quite simple. When you start the game you choose a letter, this is your clan or "race". You are in battle with all other letters. Your character is signified by that letter. If you choose A then you are a A running around. Each letter has special abilities that make them unique along with other letters that are fiends and others that are enemies. For instance the letters C and H are friendly along with letters Q and U while letters C and I are enemies. Hence the I before E except after C.

The letters fight for dominance over various pages or books. The more pages or books a clan has the more powerful that clan is. Ranking boards show the rankings. Letters can level up to be more powerful and can buy weapon upgrades and such. Shields, armor, ect.. Battles will be real time multiplayer battles. Web based using Unity.

I already bought the domain(asciiwars.com) so some game needs to come from it :) Of course I own so many dang domains anyways.

good to hear thanks! Figured simple yet addictive.

Also forgot to mention some letters will be AI "creatures" , fodder for the battles but some meaner and tougher than others. Bullets and spells and things will be symbols, Like the average bullet will be a period and will range in colors for better bullets, rockets(or maybe a fireball) will be a *. ( and ) will be forward and reverse shields. Ect... ect..

Or an weapons like ink remover, Tipp-Ex and gum :D, finding a bottle of ink gives a boost for a period of time, if you are allied with some letters you can form words, which are very powerfull buffs for parties. I see potential here :)

Halls again this idea had me rolling and very intrigued. The whole ( ) shields Idea is awesome. You could actually use } as a bow too :D You could even use ^ as targeting indicators. Have friends and allies be green then enemies be red

I am setting the website up today and originally was going to build it solo but I could use a team atmosphere for help and motivation.
