Quiet day
Man, it has been a quiet day around here! I am hoping that means everyone has probably had a good day of developing! I also hope that it is not because a lot of our posters had their power knocked-out by Irene
So what has everyone been up to today?

Broke down and bought Unity Pro today. Had been using Unity Standard, but decided to take the plunge - been working through a slew of tutorials, getting to know the IDE, etc.
Picked up copies of Maya and Photoshop (fairly) cheap on eBay, so been setting up everything and getting them to use common directories, etc. Long day, but I feel like I'm actually getting a good start on this newest project
Even spent some time with NovaMind, doing some story planning.

Sounds awesome! I would definitely say Unity is the best game engine in its price range (you would probably have to get up to about $15,000 to get more), so if you for sure know you want a high-quality 3D game engine, it is pretty much a no-brainer. In my opinion I believe Unity surpassed Torque a long time ago (about the time they became "Torque Powered" and quit caring about their users). Good luck with it!

I've moved out of Manhattan, Irene is starting to really build up. Welcoming Irene to Ardsley NY in the hope she'll stay for a few decent pictures. Will post them once my camera dries out. Only took 5 seconds to get completely soaked. Gonna get some at sun rise.

I have been through about 15 hurricanes. Some are refreshing and fun, some are scary. Good luck to all that are going through it.
I have been in Denver on Business so haven't had much time.

Hurricane Ike in 2008 was the first, and so far, the only one I have ever been in. It was not the fun or refreshing kind lol
It hit Houston in the middle of the night, and it also sped up much faster than the forecasts had predicted, so we were still here when we probably should have left. It felt all night like the house was going to be ripped apart, or like a tree was going to fall on us. It was really freaky.

We don't get hurricanes in Kansas... just tornadoes. Lots and lots of tornadoes

Re: Quiet day
As much as I hate hurricanes, I would take them any day of the week over a high tornado area, because at least you know when hurricanes are coming
