It was okay. They did a terrible job of balance. The effects of gravity was based on the scene and what the director needed.
The story was a bit childish and underwritten along with the ending. Would I recommend it? No, only because the ending leaves you with a feeling of loss. This is not a spoiler, as some would think it was a happy ending but if you are like me you think of beyond the movie and the feelings of the characters as if they were real people.

Re: John Carter
I read the first three books as a in middle school. I was expecting so much more out of the movie. If they would have stuck to the books it would have been far better. It left me feeling like I had wasted 2 hours of my life. Some of the visuals were alright but over all the acting was subpar and it you didn't feel for any of the characters.

Re: John Carter
But did they try to compress the 3 books into one movie? If so, that can be understandable, if they knew going in it wasn't going to be a trilogy and was just going to be a one-shot. However, if they just made up the majority of the story, that is pretty weak.

Re: John Carter
It is actually an older book series. George Lucas has cited it as a primary influence on the original Star Wars series. The first book came out early in the 20th centuryhallsofvallhalla wrote:thought it was a comic.
