I have prepurchased it. I played a little bit in the stress test yesterday. No idea what server I will be on yet, but I'll probably be playing a Necromancer.
*edit* ... or a Guardian or Elementalist. Played a little of each class yesterday and those three seem to be the ones that I liked the most. It's certainly different than GW1 at least from what I've seen so far. I actually GW2 better at this point.

Have you played a lot in beta? Which class is a good fit for a casual, solo player?

I was a very big fan of GW1 other than that it was really just as hard as Monster Hunter, but your character never gets epic like in MH.
GW2 is extremely disappointing for me, i bought it and played it for 2 days to really give it a chance, but once I saw the level cap is 80 I gave up on trying to find similarities. They Should have named it "Guild Wars 2: Attack of the WoW Clone".

I think the overwhelming consensus was that most players wanted GW to be more of a real, open MMORPG. Of course, a lot of that was yelled back when a free-to-play MMORPG was basically unheard of. I don't know if people are still wanting GWII to be the same thing they wanted it to be when it started development.

As I understand it various events will auto level you to 80 for that event. Leveling through the world is kind of cosmetic leveling - it doesn't affect the entire games - some parts will just level you to 80 automatically (for that event).
Which is a nice combo.

I think that is a continuation of their "PvP Character" system, where you could start a new character right at the level cap (20 in GW1) and jump into PvP events. Of course by leveling from scratch you could unlock more skills to play with, but it still feels about the same to me. It is basically trying to cut down on an entire facet of MMOs, which is the idea that you have to work to get to the fun parts. I have always thought that was actually one of the worst parts of MMOs, and it is nice to see more games coming out that try to give players what they want sooner. Runes of Magic also had a feature that could be considered in the same vein by having low-to-mid-level raids that players could start as early as level 20. Many players love raiding, and RoM lets them do what they love faster. I think that is going to be an ongoing trend in the next waves of MMOs. If it isn't, it should be
