Hey Everyone!

Post by Sharlenwar »

I have been gone for a while. I needed to just clear my head, get out of everything, and take it easy. So, after a kickass cruise that our family went on, I felt re-energized and ideas began to flow back into my head. Here I am. Did I miss anything important? I have to catch up on some posts here to see what is happening around here.

Myself, I'm going to dive back into those MMO tutorials. I have my personal web server setup here at home, meaning I can work on a possible project here. I saw that Halls posted a PBBG contest, I'm considering doing that, but I am at a disadvantage, as I need to brush up on everything. I took a complete break from everything.

Anyways, it feels great to be back.

Yeah, you see we are part of the Disney Vacation Club (Timeshare owners) and so we used our points to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for a few nights, we did Downtown Disney and watched The Hobbit on release day. Embarked on a 3 night cruise to the Bahamas and Caribbean, on the Disney Dream. The Disney cruise experience was just spectacular. We are already planning our next cruise to be at least 7 nights.

Not to mention, I have found XAMPP to be in a lite version for USB drives. That means I should be able to do some development at work in a portable environment. So I'll be looking into what all I can put into the drive to be able to develop a game. In my life, unfortunately, time is a commodity that is very rare.

It is good to be back, and I'm going through all of your MMO videos again so I can get back up to speed.

Welcome back! I highly suggest to still participate in the contest. Even if you feel rusty, there is nothing quite like a deadline to keep you busy and engaged. Even if you don't win, I am sure it will snap you back into top shape ;)

How is the Dream? I was on the Magic a few years back with my family; it was pretty fun (except the food was not what we expected).

It was spectacular. The buffet style food they have is the same old for me, as anywhere with a buffet. Nice selection. They had food 24/7 that you could order through room service. The Aquaduck that is at the top of the boat is a fun little water ride. They had a ton of shows on the boat, we basically arrived, did our thing till our seated dinner at 5:45pm, then did shows, mini-golf, etc. The dinner was amazing, fine dining atmosphere. It was great sitting there and having someone fill your drinks, take your dirty dishes away, etc.

Our family gives it a 10/10 for our very first cruise experience.

@Jack: Yeah, I'm thinking of doing it. What I'll do is enter the contest, and use that as a way to fuel the game and get something out. I already have a basic idea that I'm fleshing out, so we will see. Not that there are very many entries. :P

Yeah, I'll see what entries are there and probably put mine in as well.

But Halls and Jack, continuing our conversation... I would definitely buy you guys a beer as well. Not to mention I can probably get you cheaper hotel rates here due to me currently working in that silly industry. On the up side, I do have a job opportunity that has revealed itself to me. It is about doubled what I currently make and would definitely be something that could be perfect for game making. It is a job where I'm out for 21 days, and off for 7 days. When I'm out for 21 days, there are places that have wifi, so I think I can get away with being on the computer in my time off. But time will tell, and today I call the company to see what I need to do to get on.

Anyways, it is good to see the important people are still around. :D
