Building a Robot

So I purchased a Raspberry Pi board today along with min keyboard, 4" flat screen, and other accessories to build a personal assistant and eventually a fully functional robot. Looking for some AI bots for the speech interaction now.
I am mainly building it for my daughters to interact with. I can tell it their lessons for the day and it can help them go through with it. Test them on math and such.

Do they have any interest in building robots themselves (I can't remember how old your children are now, so maybe they aren't old enough for this to be an option)? If so, maybe you could look into Lego Mindstorms. It brings together the childhood activity of building with legos with the science and technology-focused activities of robotics design, robotics building and programming I think the age requirement is over 13, though, so may still be a bit early for this. Maybe you could check it out, though, and see if any pieces could help you with the creation of your project. I think all Mindstorms stuff is programmed with C#!

Jacko - Some years ago, i playe around with a logo mindstorm robot, and with it comes piece of software, where you can drag in statements etc. However it also possible to program it using a programming language, and you can use quite many, i used Java, but Python, C, C++, Objective C etc. will do aswell, idk about C# tho, but i would bet on it .

First, i would like to buy a raspberry pi too, or a mini pc at all, to make automation on my house.
Also i would like to build robot(s) too. If you have good tutorials i would like to have them too

I would like to be those guys who build drones and stuff.. since my child days i'd love to take apart RC cars and stuff to see how they worked.

Yeah I almost bought the lego mindstorms set. Expensive but worth it.

I am taking the approach like the guy who taught his 6 year olds Linux. He never allowed them to see or use Windows or Mac. Just linux command prompt and made them use that to play games and such. He slowly introduced them to GUIs as they learned. Now they are Linux masters.

I want them to see the barebones first then when they are older when they get Lego Mindstorms it will be a cakewalk

It might even be cool to get a breadboard, some basic logic chips and some LEDs and show how they can build the fundimentals of a computer. Just need an AC to DC converter that outputs at about five volts.
