Cheap hosting options

I've come to a point where I have a few sites, and want a personal blog to post progress on a few things, some opinions here and there, and to dump any files if I need to link to a download site etc... and I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a cheap host? I'll probably be using wordpress so shared hosting would *probably* do at first, cheap good VPS wouldn't go a miss.

Any reviews/recommendations would be appreciated. Been a while since I've actually needed such a service.

I define cheap as under £30 a month for this, but honestly I doubt I will be getting that close otherwise I may write something basic, and place it on a subdomain of one of my site.

Yeah, it sounds like you need to expand out to a VPS. There are tons and tons of VPS plans out there for under £30 (£30 would likely be more of a mid-range VPS in most cases). What I think is an important decision is if you want to host in the US or the UK. I am not sure what the VPS option is if you want to host on a UK IP, but I can only assume there are tons, probably at comparable prices to the US market since the hosting market is global and everyone is in competition.

I have not had a VPS myself, but I know several people here have used Dreamhost and seemed to like it, and this website is hosted by A Small Orange, which I believe Halls likes pretty well (and you can see the site runs pretty well, too; better than it has on its previous host, that is for sure). Maybe he will chime in with his experience so far with them.

For much less than what 30 GBP you can find a good VPS. I personally use:

I bought a reseller account and just keep it to myself I get 25 hosts for $15 a month and it is very fast and reliable. It is what I host this site and about 12 other sites on. I use asmallorange.

I'll look into both thank you. Ideally I'd like to host in the EU (uk would be best) , but it doesn't matter all that much.

With the reseller I have to ask what package are you using, and how is that working out? it seems surprisingly cheap.

Lord rahl i have the one for you, Tech-hosts. It's the host i use for www.oryzhon.com, its UK based and its very cheap.
I hosted in a promotion i guess and mine is just 14€ (17$ maybe) per YEAR! but the lowest now i think its 4€/month not sure.
