NASA confirms Voyager 1 has left the solar system!

Post by Jackolantern »

Here is the announcement! There are still astronomers and astrophysicists debating whether it has left or not, or what that even means, but this is a historic announcement as NASA feels it has reaches agreement that Voyager 1 has hit interstellar space (the massive voids between stars) and that it is mostly out of the influence of the sun. As they say in the video, this is an important step in human's exploration of our universe, such as the circumnavigation of the earth, walking on the moon, etc.

Voyager 1 is now nearly 19 billion kilometers from the sun, which is over 10 times the distance from Earth to Saturn, or 125 times the distance from the sun to Earth. The sun would be difficult to tell apart from other stars if we could get any more images (Voyager 1 lost power to its imaging instruments long ago).

V'Ger will return one day... and Captain Kirk will save the world when it does :)

This is really cool though

Don't bash me for this but I don't believe any of it. The human brain cannot comprehend a billion miles therefore it is easy to spit out silly numbers. We have no proof that it has gone that far. It is all calculated formulas based on time x distance and has no way of correcting itself once it leaves communication. To be honest it has no real way before but the math is tighter and they can use transmission times to gauge but space is vastly different that earth. We have no way here on earth to test any of these measurement theories.

If they are wrong by just .01% that's 4 million km off. Now you are asking what is 4 million km compared to 13 billion? Well that is 153 trips around the earth or you driving at 60mph for 8 years without stopping. The numbers are grossly over estimated to baffle the mind. Funny thing is The Voyager's top speed is 62,136km/h and it has been in space for 36 years and 8 days so that equals 19 billion and they are done. Bah! Find me a battery or a piece of tech on earth left outside that has been running since 1976 that is still functioning with no maintenance! Isn't it also funny how the pictures from Voyager became better as time went on yet the tech is still from 1976? How is it that it's top speed is set? There is no such thing as top speed in space so why is it going 1 speed?

I am a huge conspiracy theory guy when it comes to space and the moon. No I do not think anyone has been to the moon and till we see real proof I never will.

The pics we see of mars look so fake. i mean look at this garbage.

BUT, and this is a big BUT, this is just me being me and believing in not believing in something I see no reason to believe so it is not to say anyone else is wrong. It is fun conversation for me. :)

Yeah you're right, of course there are always conspiracies.. I dont believe it nor believe it.. I'm indifferent to all of it because it doesn't change my life..

Why you say we never landed on the moon halls? So where do all those space shuttles go? Just saying (not criticizing your conspiracy :P), i know a channel about this on youtube and for the "proofs" they showed you can clearly think that 9/11 was made by america.. But what can we do? It's our society, it was like this before we've been born.. We can't change it just like this.

The world needs some sort of apocalypse so everything can start from scratch.

I am not saying the conspiracies are bad. The moon missions made millions of dollars and put tons of people to work and gave the US economy a boost.

They can easily shoot a capsule into outer space and forget it.
The first moon landing was an absolute joke. Everything about it. The footage is so bad and so fake its just silly. It's America's pride that keeps it real but I am good with that.

That picture of Mars with 2 stars if Photoshopped. Not sure where that came from. That is also not the correct size of the sun from Mars anyway.

As far as the other stuff, I will just say I don't agree at all, being a huge astronomy and astrophysics fan. I'll leave it at that ;)

*checks to make sure we are in off-topic*

Okay, this is amazing that this would show up here. But I will just tell you my opinion. I do believe that we have sent out Voyager 1 from earth here and had it go along. To explain the pictures that got better with time is simple, many of those pictures are most likely fake as something must have gone wrong with the craft early on. To hide this they could easily gather images and data from telescopes, hubble, etc. Would NASA say that something has gone wrong? A miscalculation that caused something to go wrong? Maybe some space debris caused some issues? How much would they tell you, how much of it would they put out as disinformation? Along this same line, what of the moon? I believe that humans have gone to the moon and have returned. There is physical proof of it happening. I believe that they probably discovered something up there, and when they were there, most likely reviewed the site before releasing any footage. This gave them the reason to recreate what they could of the surface in a studio. Mainly, how are you going to confirm the fact that we ever were on the moon? You can physically see the site of where they crashed one on the moon, as well they have established various reflectors from the missions that allowed them to use a laser from earth to measure the distance that the earth was to the moon. So there are various real elements. But would they tell you if they discovered an abandoned human base? Maybe our ancestors from an ancient time have already explored our solar system? How would we know? Do you think there are remnants of this civilization? I certainly know for sure there is evidence, as I have seen it myself. Would that mean something in space?

As for the 9/11 thing, look at all that has happened since that event. NDAA, the massive funding to DHS, expansion of the TSA, federalization of the local police. Did the event at 9/11 achieve something? It certainly did. As to who did it? Criminal elements that are within the ranks of the US government. I could practically write a book with sources and references that probably would keep you going for hours upon hours. I have spent 7 years doing solid research, even spending some money in travel. There is truth that is out there.

But back to space, look at the biblical account of our earth, we didn't have space travel back then? Let's look at Luke 17:26 "Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man." ESV. Without going on a jag to explain how we can confirm the days we are living in, if we look at this Scripture we can clearly see that as it says, when the times are as in those days so will it be when Jesus returns to Earth for his 2nd time. What could this mean? Could it be that there were spacecraft that was created and a base already established on the moon? Maybe humans screwed up Mars? Maybe they experienced a disaster as they could have established a colony? Just because we currently are led to believe we come from cavemen? I subscribe to the biblical account as there is proof for those who seek it. You do know that evolution is a recent theory that was developed right? You do know that there is no proof of evolution, there is definitely microevolution that is proven, as for macroevolution, it is still only a theory.

The problem with getting into any sort of debate, is one needs to be aware of a large amount of information to even tackle what we are looking at discussing. I usually don't pipe up, and say something within these arenas as people most of the time will look like they are listening to you, then laugh, and go on to what they were thinking anyways. 98% of the time people won't go check out the information that is clearly available.

But this time I had to. :) Oh Halls, don't even think about looking at the rules, as I don't follow them on any site I go to. I go by common sense. Meaning that I treat people the way I want to be treated. Respectfully and thoughtfully. Remember, one could say these are simply my opinions and that is it. But did these opinions get you thinking?

Of course and I love it. I am not one to get heated on an opinion argument. It is all stimulating.

The image above was more about proving how easily something can be made and make millions believe. it is all over facebook.

I won't comment on the bible stuff. I may be a noob at space stuff but I spent 20 years in a hard core holly rolling church where my father was the pastor. I understand it more than I care to talk about and I have to be real careful with what I say so i leave it alone. I love hearing others thoughts on it though and one might be surprised on my beliefs in all that. It is not the norm.

Back to the space stuff now, I still have not seen real proof so I care to not believe. We might have sent a man to the moon but the first mission was completely fake. We did not have the technology in 1965 to send a clear wireless call 20,000 miles let alone 238,000 miles! and even if we did the amount of power it would take would never have fit on a ship and the fact that we still barely have technology to launch a ship from another, land using boosters only, have that ship take back off and then re-attach to another ship.

But I have totally derailed the thread...

Hey guys, these things are always a good read.. just continue!
I personally don't really believe in anything unless proven differently.

People operate with Instinct, they say. I say people operate with experience in life, routines passed on by whoever has been a part of childhood.

But about the space stuff, I just take it as any other entertainment news.. good subjects for small talk and of course the conspiracy speculations add an extra boost to it all :)
So in short, news is news, conspiracy theories are entertainment in a 'realism in your face'-kind of way.
I usually don't pipe up, and say something within these arenas as people most of the time will look like they are listening to you, then laugh, and go on to what they were thinking anyways. 98% of the time people won't go check out the information that is clearly available.
I would laugh, but not at you or what you just said. I would say I would be laughing with you, since I see that you enjoy conspiracy theories, I enjoy hearing them, not researching them.
So when you tell your research facts to someone, they might be intrigued to hear more. Or then they just don't want to face the truth since they are happy with the truth they know.

But all this stuff is a good read.
