Hitler's Last Gamble [8/10]

Post by Bevertails »

So I originally picked up this masterpiece for a paper for my American History Class.

I really only needed battle descriptions and battle plans due to the fact that I couldn't find anything online that really drew to my eye. So i used said photo's inside the book and redrew them using Photoshop and so-on then turned in my paper.

While searching through the book for diagrams of unit movements I commonly became sidetracked by the overall descriptiveness and vivid detail that the authors put on paper. Now me being a WW2 enthusiast. You can say i was having a field day with this book. It covers both sides of the Ardennes campaign all the way down to the specific times and commanders of each unit throughout the fierce Christmas-time battles.

These details and diagrams painted a picture for me that i've never experienced from a book such as that one. So you'd think i'd be giving this book a 10/10 right? Wrong.

I'm giving it an Overall [8/10] due to it's Complexity. Now I can pick up most things, such as names of vehicles or units of foreign nations for example. But some of the abbreviations used can be confusing to the reader and can often be frustrating to flip back and fourth from the page you are reading and the glossary provided in the book full of abbreviations for units and ranks.
