Skyline = garbage

Post by hallsofvallhalla »

Yeah that bad, Jack feel free to copy your review over her but man this movie was super horrible. They failed on the plot. They had tons of opportunities to make a good movie or throw in a twist and they missed every single last one of them. Every last one. If you plan on seeing this movie I will save you some time....
My friend is rich, mmm the light, i am super powerful..oh wait no I am not, I suck.

yep that's the whole plot! seriously.

LOL the outline is PERFECT! That`s about it, not to mention the terrible ending of the movie.. I hate those open ends, where everything is possible. At least hint to something but.. oh well..

Yeah, terrible movie.

Yep, what a good outline! From the Battle Los Angeles thread:
Jackolantern wrote:It isn't doc style either, but I did not like Skyline. It is like an awkward mixing of 2 different ends of a spectrum. On one end, it is actually a low-budget movie, made on a shoe-string budget for this type of movie and it shows in the production. On the other end of the spectrum, it tries to be a blockbuster special-effect fest and tries to look like a $100M film (of which its budget is hardly 10% of that). The special effects are good considering they were basically made by two guys in a basement, but from what I saw of the film (we walked out after about 30 minutes, but were seeing it for free anyway), it tries to go a bit too far with what it had to work with.

It basically just felt like a made-for-TV movie.
I actually didn't see the ending. I didn't find out until after we got back home that it was a low-budget movie, which have kind of become trendy in Hollywood right now after how much money Paranormal Activity made. Not that I inherently dislike low-budget movies, but the trailer did a good job of looking like high-budget special-effect movie, which it is not.

The ending left it for a sequel...like they will get a sequel!!!! Ha!

The ending was one of the worst in some time. The movie was so bad it made my popcorn taste bad and my coke go flat.....

More then likely will get a sequel:

Budget for this movie was $10 Million. Worldwide gross: $65,070,978 in 42 days. They went way over their budget and then some. Same thing happened with Blair Witch. $60K budget. Worldwide gross: $248,639,099. I know thats a huge difference between the two. But I am just saying it is possible that a second one can occur.

Skyline had the following grades:

As: 50 17.0%
Bs: 54 18.4%
Cs: 72 24.5%
Ds: 57 19.4%
Fs: 61 20.7%

Trust e Hollywood knows why they made the money. It is the same thoughts Lion Gates studios got big on. Make a crappy movie with a super small budget and sell it big time. Even if it doesn't do well it will still make quite a few million off of movie ticket sand several more off DVDs. It only takes people watching it once. Who cares if it is bad. if 5% of 100 million people watch it that 5 million * $15 ticket = $75 million just in movie tickets, then if another 5% buys the dvd thats another 75 million. 150 million for a couple mill movie.

Cat is out of the bag though, Not too many will see the sequel. Like Blair witch 2 and Paranormal activity 2. Will fail.
