Online Miniatures game

Post by hallsofvallhalla »

So as I was taking a break from FS I started going through my mass collection of Miniatures. I dont have many people around here that plays Warhammer or any other figurine game but I love to play.

I got to thinking about how to bring the ability to play figure games to players everywhere. What about a online miniatures type game. You collect your figures, buy them from exp you gain in battles and all your figures gain exp themselves for level ups.

people could come together to battle each others armies. Before the game begun the players could take turns "building" the map, placing debris, houses, ect....

Could make for a fun online game

That would be quite cool. Loved to play warhammer before, we was about 4-6 persons playing quite regurarly before, but now that all started working or studying at universities there is very little time for that. Played a lot of DnD too, we was the biggest amatures ever, but so damn funny :D

Thanks for giving me another idea for my Big Book of Game Ideas ;)

I remember when I played DnD with my friends. Had some of the most hilarious things happen (falling off a cliff because a Kobold threw a stone at me  )

i use to play warhammer all the time. i got at least 4k points of guys...

but anyway. it sounds good Halls, but you may like to look at this.

www.battleforge.com

its similar to what your saying. instead of having models though you basically have a card deck similar to magic the gathering. you can buy/sell/and trade the cards, and you get upgrades by beating levels.

the problem with it is that most cards are worth dirst while others for the equivalent of 15 dollars.

if you paper doll the models, so you can have your own "bitz" box to edit the guys in the game, that would be really cool.

hmm i am not wanting anything that graphical but yeah something where players can buy/sell/trade their figures along with equip and level them.

I was actually thinking of using gamemaker 7 with some mysql dlls to make it compatible with a website. You can open up the exe and go to a lobby and fight other players, then go to the website to view stats and handle armies. Hmmm this could be done......

well i have been researching how to make this game and after looking into gamemaker, silverlight, asp, and xna, I think my best bet is JS and Ajax.

THis way I could make it web browser compatible and still multi-player. Basically I could use ajax to update the browser page everytime a change is made. Player one moves a unit then the browser updates, moves another and that unit is updated, until all units are updated. Then player 2 moves. Now player one makes an attack, everything is updated and so forth. Be kinda like turns. Players could battle with armies they have. I could have a challenge board where the player states he wants to battle and how big of an army is allowed. Any player wanting to fight can click accept and they battle. I could also make single player campaigns if no one is playing.

you really are turning to be a browser master :D And single player campaigns would be very good to give playbality value, when you just want to play at your rate :D

Well...all our group died cause we had a crazy mage that was obcessed with orcs, and on the wall in an entrence to a cave there was dead orc heads hanging...which this mage "obviously" had to run too and try and grab as many as possible of...wasn't a good idea considering all the other orcs in the cave

That is the sort of fun/crazy people we played with :D We laughed constantly almost :P
